Job Description
The Chief Operating Officer holds a very vital and strategic role in the company. We are seeking an experienced and strategic COO to join our leadership team and oversee our operations.
S/he is expected to oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring the successful execution and management of our minigrids and EPC projects. You will lead our operations team, enhance and drive operational strategies with focus on operational and customer excellence in line with global best practices, and ensure compliance with regulatory and ESG requirements.
In summary, the following points represent the key expectations of the Management:
Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, including project development, construction, operations, utilities and facilities management.
• Operational Strategy: Develop and implement operational strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Team Leadership and Development: Lead and develop a high-performing operations team, ensuring they have the necessary skills, training, and resources to excel in their roles.
• Project Management: Ensure successful project execution in compliance with set timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Performance Monitoring: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance operational performance in line with industry standards and global best practices.
• Regulatory and ESG Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory and ESG requirements, including health, safety, and environmental standards.
Who Are We Looking For?
Professional Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management (of which 5-years should be in a leadership position), preferably in the renewable energy, utility, telecoms or infrastructure sectors.
• Operational Experience: Proven track record of operational experience, including project management, facility management, team leadership, regulatory and ESG compliance.
• Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading and developing high-performing operations teams.
• Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving: Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies.
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders.
• Memberships with professional bodies such as: COREN, NSE, IEEE, etc. will be an added advantage
